A Fashion Tidbit...

Skinny jeans make is very difficult to climb, squat, and pretty much do a lot in.  I guess it's not so much the skinny part as much as it is the low rise issue.  Remember when low, low rise jeans surfaced in the late 90's early 2000's?

I remember buying my first pair of super low rise jeans when I was a freshman in college.  I think I bought them from Guess? and they were perfect at not squeezing you in all the wrong places (think muffin top), but where they were so not practical was that once you put them on you pretty much decided you would be standing all night long.  Try to sit down in a pair of jeans that are barely on your hips and you will probably show some serious crack to anyone who wants to see.  Need to get in your SUV?  Good luck.  Not too much room for movement.  Did I look good? At the time, I'm sure.  But looking back, how ridiculous were these jeans?  Anyone else remember struggling to move in a pair of jeans like this?

So why in the hell would I think dressing my active toddler in skinny jeans would be a good idea?  On Sunday we headed off the park with my parents, who came for the weekend from Massachusetts, and B, wearing his skinny jeans.  Oh man, I just love these jeans.  He looks so cute in them and heck, if my wardrobe sucks his should be awesome, right?  Well maybe so, but as I watched my adventurous toddler struggle to climb the stairs, get over the low walls of the playground area I couldn't help but laugh at the image of myself in college standing for hours because sitting was too difficult.

Lesson learned, while skinny, low rise jeans may be stylish they are so unpractical.  Sorry B, we'll save these for photo shoots only.

  2. That is hilarious! I guess even the youngest of us has to suffer for the sake of fashion sometimes. ;)
